Beginner Weekend Stained Glass Workshop
Our Beginner weekend Workshops are designed to be friendly to those who have never tried stained glass before, but definitely fun for folks of all experience levels! During these one-day workshops, students will be given the opportunity to create a variety of different functional and fun items including mirrors, picture frames, plant stakes, candle holders, and more! Each workshop will have students working on the same project, where they will chose from a variety of pre cut glass pieces to assemble a unique piece of art which they will then foil and solder together. Students will leave the class with a finished item which can be used as soon as they’re home! Each workshop will last approximately three hours with some built in overflow time in case anyone doesn’t finish their piece within the scheduled class hours. All supplies and tools necessary for the completion of the project will be provided to the students, including any necessary PPE (personal protective equipment).
Four Week Beginner Stained Glass Course
Our four week beginner course is designed for those who are interested in receiving in depth instruction on how to create a stained-glass panel from start to finish, and is friendly to those with little to no prior stained glass experience. Students will get to choose from six custom patterns that they can create during their class, and will be given sheet glass in the colorway of their choosing for that pattern (patterns are listed below the scheduling tool) . Skills covered during this course include:
Cutting glass
Using a wet grinder to shape glass
Foiling glass using copper tape
Soldering
Framing the piece in lead came
Attaching hardware for hanging the piece
Applying patina to the solder (optional)
Cleaning and polishing the piece
The class is scheduled to be completed in three sessions over three weeks, with one makeup day at the end of the four-week course for any student who either missed a day of class or who did not finish their piece in the first three sessions. Each session of the class will last approximately two and a half hours with 30 minutes of overflow time if any student should need extra time. Students will leave the class with a finished piece of art ready to hang in their home! All supplies and tools necessary for the completion of the project will be provided to the students, including any necessary PPE (personal protective equipment).
